Call to ACT-ION
This logo is a representation of 2 different sets of lenses - almost a bit like veri-focal glasses.
Firstly, we need to consider human factors, like organisations, decision making and behaviours, along with financial factors like incentives and business models, and combine that with technical factors, thinking about which technologies and solutions to use on our projects, or to develop if they don't exist yet.
And then on the other hand, we need to think about different scales of action, such as what individuals can do, what organisations (companies, charities, partnerships, communities etc) can do, and then finally, what do we need to do at the national and international level.
UN Making Peace with Nature Report: benefits map
Based on the UN Making Peace with Nature report I have undertaken my own review of the report recommendations thinking about project delivery in the UK Built Environment sector.
I have represented this as a kind of benefits map - it's still very much in draft
Transformation Game Plan
This is all still very much in development, and might not end up going anywhere.
But this shows some ideas about how to approach transforming the project management sector, especially the UK Built Environment sector, from the bottom up thinking about delivery, and from the top down thinking about systems thinking.
One element is thinking about how to make small changes to what we're doing now. Another is to imagine the future we are aiming for. And then trying to map a set of activities to get as quickly and efficiently (and hopefully equitably) from one to other.
One hypothesis is that some people are better at one of the above three activities than the other two, so hopefully this would allow people to have a crack at what they are predisposed to, rather than everyone having to do everything. But I could be wrong.
Projects Smörgåsbord
This circle diagram shows my ideas for how to approach the transformation of project management, thinking about the 6 Systems for Transformation from the Making Peace with Nature report, and also different facets of project management
Project Smörgåsbord Spin-off activities
This circle diagram shows my ideas with a bit more detail about how this might look in terms of implementation, going from systems thinking and the Making Peace with Nature report, and moving into how something could be delivered on the ground.
